1 Address recognition sensor
During operation, the stacker crane always travels along a fixed track, so it is possible to install certain sensors on the stacker crane body and cooperate with the installation of certain mechanisms on the track. This way, each time the stacker crane passes through these mechanisms, the sensor changes can tell which track area it is currently located in. In the horizontal direction of the stacker crane, this sensor is called an address recognition sensor, and the mechanism installed along the track is called an address recognition chip. Due to the need for accurate positioning of the stacker crane in the horizontal direction, including the location of goods to be stored and retrieved, as well as the position of the conveyor at the entrance and exit of the warehouse, and the corresponding horizontal position of each cargo compartment on the shelf, fixed address plates are installed on each cargo compartment and conveyor position along the track direction. Each time the stacker crane passes through these address plates, the sensor will change the signal. The stacker crane starts running from the starting point, and the number of sensor changes will vary, You can know which cargo compartment the stacker is currently located in, and which two cargo compartment positions are between.

2 Rotary encoder
The address recognition sensor positioning method belongs to discrete positioning, and the stacker can only know which two address recognition chips it is currently running between, but it does not know which specific point between the two address recognition chips it is running at. A rotary encoder is a positioning sensor that can output continuous positions. Generally, a rotary encoder is installed on the axis of the wheels of the front and rear walking mechanisms. When the transportation equipment travels, the rotation of the wheels drives the value of the rotary encoder to change. Starting from the starting point, walking forward for 1 meter corresponds to the value of the rotary encoder X. According to the corresponding relationship, the number of meters that the transportation equipment has traveled can be indirectly calculated through the value of the rotary encoder, thus completing the positioning of the equipment. The rotary encoder can be used in a layout where the device walks in a straight line or in a layout where the device walks in a curve.

3 Laser ranging sensor
At present, there are fewer and fewer traditional methods of using address recognition cards for positioning in three-dimensional warehouses. Instead, laser distance sensor are used to locate the stacker crane. Laser rangefinder is also a continuous positioning method with very high accuracy. Usually, the laser rangefinder is installed on the body of the stacker, and a laser reflector is installed at one end of the straight track. The position of the reflector should ensure that the laser rangefinder can project light onto the reflector throughout the entire journey of the stacker. When the laser is projected onto the reflector, the distance between the distance measuring instrument and the reflector can be indirectly calculated based on the time of the light circuit, which indirectly calculates the real-time position of the current stacker on the fixed track. Due to the straight-line nature of laser light, laser rangefinders are typically used on automated handling equipment operating on straight tracks.

4 Barcode locator
There is another positioning method called barcode positioning technology for moving equipment on fixed tracks. Namely, read the pre installed continuous barcode labels, i.e. barcode, to obtain data values. Install barcodes along the track and install a special barcode reader on the transportation equipment accordingly. This way, the barcode reader will continuously read this special continuous barcode while the transportation equipment is walking along the track. The barcode value corresponds to a certain distance value, and the transportation equipment can obtain the current position on the track in real-time
