China's annual sales of natural navigation AMR exceed 100,000 units
The large-scale implementation of AMR is driven not only by strong demand-side momentum but also by technological evolution on the supply side. In terms of structural changes in navigation methods, the past five years have witnessed the rapid decline of traditional path-dependent solutions and the full rise of autonomous navigation.
China's annual sales of natural navigation AMR exceed 100,000 units.
Classified by navigation mode, mobile robots are mainly divided into four major product types: laser reflector navigation, magnetic navigation, QR code navigation, and AMR (Laser SLAM + Visual SLAM).
According to data from the CMR Industry Alliance and statistics by the New Strategic Mobile Robot Industry Research Institute, China's AMR sales volume stood at less than 20,000 units in 2021, recording exactly 19,900 units. Sales have climbed year by year thereafter: exceeding 30,000 units in 2022, surpassing 50,000 units in 2023, reaching nearly 80,000 units in 2024, and hitting 102,000 units in 2025. Overall sales have expanded approximately fivefold over the five-year period.
Meanwhile, the growth rate curve presents a different picture. In 2021, the AMR market led with a high growth rate of 188.40%, obviously driven by the low-base effect. The growth rate then gradually declined to 53.77% in 2022. In 2023, it rebounded temporarily to 76.47% due to the concentrated release of downstream demand, before moderating again. The growth rate stood at 44.44% in 2024 and further dropped to 30.77% in 2025.
The slowdown in growth does not mean the market is cooling down; instead, it represents a natural transition of the industry from blind expansion to large-scale growth. The larger the base, the harder it is to sustain a high growth rate, yet the absolute increment continues to accumulate steadily.
In 2025, the combined proportion of laser SLAM and visual SLAM reached approximately 56.04%.
The large-scale implementation of AMR is driven not only by strong demand-side momentum but also by technological evolution on the supply side. In terms of structural changes in navigation methods, the past five years have witnessed the rapid decline of traditional path-dependent solutions and the full rise of autonomous navigation.
According to the research and statistics of the New Strategic Mobile Robot Industry Research Institute,AMRs represented by laser SLAM and visual SLAM have traced a curve of steady upward growth.. Their market share stood at 27.70% in 2021, on par with QR code navigation. It then increased year by year, reaching 43.2% in 2023, exceeding 56% in 2024, and stabilizing at 56.04% in 2025, officially crossing the critical point of structural dominance. In just five years, the laser SLAM plus visual SLAM navigation solution has achieved a historic leap from one of the technical routes to the mainstream of the market.
The mobile robot market in 2025 is undergoing a profound structural shift. The continuous expansion of market scale validates the long-term logic of the industry, while the accelerated convergence of technical routes indicates that the next round of competition will unfold at a higher dimension — shifting from "whether it can be used" to "how well it performs", and from simple hardware stacking to a comprehensive competition centered on software intelligence and system integration capabilities. Future competition will no longer focus solely on shipment volume, but more importantly on the value density of each individual product.
