Anti-Pinch Sensors Selection for Ultra-Slim Turnstiles


Core requirements for sensors in ultra-thin swing gates (100–120mm narrow body): small size, slim profile, single-sided embedding, low power consumption, easy integration, suitable for narrow cavity installation and accurate anti-pinch/tailgating detection.

First, clarify the mandatory constraints for slim turnstiles, and all recommended sensor models should meet the following requirements:

 

Ultra-compact size: Probe outer diameter ≤ Φ12/Φ14mm, ultra-thin panel embedded design (thickness ≤ 8mm).  It can be embedded in the side walls of narrow cabinets and inside swing arms with no protruding probes, preserving the slim and streamlined appearance.

 

Ultra-fast response: Response time ≤ 1ms, compatible with high-speed opening and closing of speed gates to ensure timely anti-pinch protection without delay.

 

Narrow spacing adaptation: Suitable for clear passage widths of 550~650mm, with a detection range of 0.5~1.5m for full coverage without redundant long-distance detection capability.

 

High protection rating: IP65~IP67, featuring dustproof, moistureproof performance, resistance to strong indoor light and infrared crosstalk interference.

 

Unified electrical specifications: DC24V power supply, dual NPN/PNP outputs, switchable normally open/normally closed modes, universally compatible with turnstile PLC and single-chip microcomputers.

Concealed wiring: Recessed side wall installation and backboard embedding design, fully conforming to Slim minimalist aesthetics with no exposed wires.

 

 

Secondly, let’s compare the application of different sensor technologies in ultra-slim turnstiles.

 

Infrared Through-beam Sensor

It adopts a transmitting and receiving cross-channel design, featuring the highest stability, no blind spots, no clothing jamming, and strongest anti-interference capability. It is a must-have core anti-pinch component for slim swing gates and wing gates. The only requirement is to reserve small embedded holes on both sides of the cabinet, making it perfectly compatible with narrow-body equipment.

 

Mini Diffuse Reflection Sensor 

With single-transmit and single-receive design and single-side installation, it requires no cross-side wiring and can be embedded on one side of the cabinet. It is suitable for ultra-narrow gates with a width of 80~100mm that feature an ultra-slim body and cannot be drilled on both sides.

 

TOF Single-point Laser Anti-pinch Sensor 

It has a smaller size, precise detection distance, and a blind spot of less than 5mm. Adopting concealed embedded installation, it serves as the top-tier configuration for speed gates in high-end Grade A office buildings.

 

Mini Safety Light Curtain 

This ultra-thin narrow light curtain (border width ≤10mm) provides multi-layer high and low position protection to prevent risks caused by children, luggage and tailgating behaviors. It is the standard configuration for metro AFC slim gates.
