What is Photoelectric Sensor?
Photoelectric Sensor is a general term for sensors that use a photoelectric device as a conversion element. It first converts the non-electrical quantity to be measured into a change in the quantity of light (intensity, frequency or wavelength, phase, polarization state of light), and then converts the corresponding quantity of light into an electrical quantity by means of a photoelectric device. Photoelectric sensors can be used to measure changes in the amount of light directly caused by other non-electric quantities, such as light intensity, light illuminance, radiation temperature measurement, gas composition analysis, etc.; can also be used to measure changes in the amount of light can be converted to other non-electric quantities, such as the diameter of the part, the surface roughness, strain, displacement, vibration, speed, acceleration, as well as the shape of the object, the identification of the working condition.Optical modulation technology is commonly used in photoelectric sensors. The so-called "modulation" is the transmission of the signal (information) of the object of study through a carrier. Therefore, the optical commissioning process is to carry the information signal superimposed on the carrier light wave, the device to complete this process is called a modulator. The modulator enables the parameters of the carrier lightwave to vary with the applied signal. The demodulation process of light is usually the carrier wave of light carried by the signal is converted into light intensity changes, and then detected by the photoelectric device. Optical modulation techniques include optical intensity modulation, optical frequency or wavelength modulation, optical phase modulation and optical polarization state modulation. Among them, optical intensity modulation is the most commonly used modulation technique.
