What light sources of photoelectric sensors? And how to choose a door sensor?
Industrial door photoelectric sensors (such as reflective photoelectric switches or infrared light curtains) usually use infrared LED as light sources, and some may also use laser or visible light (such as red LED) as light source.

Industrial door photoelectric sensors (such as reflective photoelectric switches or infrared light curtains) usually use infrared LED as light sources, and some may also use laser or visible light (such as red LED) as light source.
1. Common types and characteristics of light sources of industrial door photoelectric sensors
(1) Infrared photo sensors (most common)
Wavelength are typically 850nm or 940nm (invisible light).
Infrared light is not easily affected by ambient light (such as sunlight and lighting), making it suitable for industrial environments. It's invisible light, avoiding visual interference to personnel. And infrared LED has a long lifespan (up to 100000 hours or more) and low power consumption and low cost.
Typical applications: ordinary industrial doors, garage doors, safety light curtains (such as SICK, OMRON, G-TEK and other brands).
Products such as PMF55T photoelectric sensors
(2) Red visible light LED photoelectric sensors
Wavelength around 650nm.The red LED light beam is visible, making it easy to install, debug, and troubleshoot.Suitable for indoor environments with stable lighting.
Application: places that require quick debugging or require visibility of light.
Products such as PF50R photo sensors and PF53R retro-reflective photoelectric sensors
(3) Laser photoelectric sensor (high-precision requirement)
Wavelength commonly 650nm (red light) or infrared laser.
The laser light is narrow beam, suitable for long-distance (over 10 meters) or small object detection. High precision and the resolution can reach millimeter level, suitable for high security situations.
Application: High end industrial doors, precision equipment protection, hazardous areas (such as punching machines).
Products such as PF50R-AR laser photoelectric sensor
2. Light source selection suggestions of photocell sensors
·For Ordinary industrial doors, you could choose the photoelectric sensors with infrared LED light source which is high cost-effectiveness and strong anti-interference.
·If it's complex lighting environment, the photocell sensor with modulated infrared light (such as pulse frequency modulation, further anti-interference) is perfect.
·Photo sensors with laser light source are used in the ambient of long distance or high precision such as AGV path or large lifting doors.
·If visual assistance required, then choose the red visible light photoelectric sensors ,it's friendly during debugging phase.
By selecting the appropriate type of light source and sensor configuration, industrial door photoelectric sensor systems can balance safety, stability, and economy.
