The capacitance value of a capacitive sensor is generally independent of the electrode material and depends only on the geometric dimensions of the electrode. Additionally, the loss of dielectric materials such as air is minimal, thus it has good temperature stability. Capacitive sensors can work in various harsh environmental conditions such as high and low temperatures, strong radiation, and strong magnetic fields.
